Apology

Hi Crafters,

You might be wondering what happened to the Autumn/Winter Catalogue launch week posts.  Well, I was diagnosed with Chronic Fatigue Syndrome/M.E. back in 2011 and I had taken on too much earlier this month, including the launch.  I actually ended up pretty much paralysed in the early part of the launch week.  It only lasted a few hours but it was enough to make me realise that something had to give and unfortunately, that something was blogging.  I have recently started a new college course and I also work part time for a local authority so all in all, it took it's toll.  I will be back to blogging soon, but for now I hope you can forgive my lack of posting.

If you have had a chance to look at the new catalogue, I would be delighted to hear what you think.  I really love the Year of Cheer Suite and all the snowflakes dotted throughout the catalogue.

Happy crafting,

Autumn/Winter Stampin' Up! 2017 Catalogue Launch - Ready to Make Chirstmas

Hi Crafters,

I hope you are enjoying the launch so far.  Don't forget to request your free copy of the new catalogue by sending me an email with your name and address.  I have used three new sets for today's project and it features a sausage dog!  I squealed when I saw this stamp set for the first time!  I would love a sausage dog of my own.

 Ready for Christmas bundle
Christmas in the Making

Wishes All Aglow

I actually only used one small stamp from the third stamp set, Wishes All Aglow, but it created the perfect filler for my background.

Warning - there was a lot of fussy cutting involved in this card!   I stamped the lady from Christmas in the Making onto Whisper White cardstock in Archival Basic Black ink.  In order to create the patterned dress, I stamped again onto one of the sheets from the Quilted Christmas Designer Series Paper and fussy cut out the image.  I stamped the sash onto Real Red cardstock and then cut this out too.  I finished by colouring the non paper-pieced parts with Stampin' Write Markers in Crumb Cake (skin), Chocolate Chip (hair), Basic Black (shoes), Real Red and Garden Green (bauble).  The Crumb Cake colouring is really difficult to see in the photograph.

I inked up the tree image from the Ready for Christmas stamp set in Garden Green and stamped off the page.  I added a star for the top of the tree in Crushed Curry cardstock.  The little sausage dog does come with a matching die but it leaves a small border of white cardstock around the image and I ended up fussy cutting this too.  I coloured the sausage dog with Stampin' Write Markers in Crumb Cake, Real Red and Garden Green and raised him up on Dimensionals.

I hope you have been enjoying the launch to far.  Don't forget to leave a comment to be entered into the blog candy giveaway.  There's still time to leave comments on all the launch posts too.

Happy crafting,

Autumn/Winter Stampin' Up! Catalogue 2017 - A Christmas Wish for You

Hi Crafters,

Have you requested your free copy of the new Autumn/Winter Stampin' Up! Catalogue yet?  If not, you've still got time.  Simply send me an email with your name and address and I'll send one out directly to you.

Today's project features inking techniques that I've not tried for a while and the use of negative die cuts.  You can achieve a really unique look using the negative left behind after die cutting.

I started with a piece of Whisper White cardstock and created a mask using the tree die from the Christmas Staircase Thinlits Dies.  I placed this over another piece of Whisper White cardstock and traced a faint outline in pencil.  I used the sticky section of a Post-it note to create a moon with the 3/4" Circle Punch and positioned it into place.  I used the small star image from the Hearts Come Home stamp set and added my stars in white embossing powder.

Next I inked inside the negative tree die cut with Night of Navy ink using a Sponge Dauber.  I inked the sleigh image from the Hearts Come Home stamp set in Versamark and used silver embossing powder to create a contrast.  I added the houses using more Night of Navy ink and the negative die cut from the Hometown Greetings Edgelits Dies.  To finish, I inked up the sentiment from Best Gifts in Smoky Slate and then drew a wiggly border around the card to frame the main image.

Do let me know if you try any negative die cut inking soon.  It's always fun to try new things.  If you would like to be entered into the blog candy giveaway to celebrate the launch of the new Autumn/Winter Catalogue, just leave a comment on each of the launch posts during the first week of September and become a follower.  You have until 7 p.m. on Saturday 9 September 2017 to complete your entries.

Autumn/Winter Stampin' Up! 2017 Catalogue - Berry Burst Pillowbox

Hi Crafters,

I'm back with my second post of the Autumn/Winter Stampin' Up! 2017 catalogue launch.  This post features a 3D project which is perfect for gift giving and so easy to make.  First of all, let's look at the Tags and Trimmings stamp set and Trim Your Stocking Thinlits Dies I used to create the pillowbox.  You can purchase the stamps and dies together and save 10%.

To create the pillowbox, I cut two of the pillowbox dies in Berry Burst cardstock, to make a front and back.  I cut off the two top tabs and also the sides of one of the die cuts.  Next I folded along all the score lines, being careful at the corners.  I used Tear and Tape to adhere the front and back pieces together.

The decoration was created from a piece of Whisper White cardstock, stamped in Berry Burst (2nd generation) with the snowflake image from the Tags and Trimmings stamp set.  I added a piece of silver 1/8" ribbon and wrapped this around the pillowbox.  The tag is also created from the same die set and I attached the bow using a Glue Dot.  The finished pillowbox measures 3.5" by 2.5".

These pillowboxes are super easy to make and can be decorated to match any present.  Why not add the wow factor to your gifts by presenting them in your own handmade pillowboxes.  I plan to fill mine with jewellery and sweets  - although not together!

Don't forgot about your chance to win blog candy.  Simply follow my blog and comment on each of the Autumn/Winter Catalogue launch posts for a chance to win.  You can earn extra entries on my Facebook page and Instagram account too.  You have until 7 p.m. on Saturday 9 September 2017 to complete your entry.

Stampin' Up! Autumn/Winter Catalogue Launch - Feeling of Christmas

Hi Crafters,

Stampin' Up! released their Autumn/Winter  2017 catalogue yesterday.  If you haven't seen it yet, you're in for a real treat.  If you would like to receive a free copy of the new Autumn/Winter Stampin' Up! catalogue, simply send me an email using the address at the top of the page and I'll mail one out.  An electronic version is available in the sidebar - just click on the front cover image.

I'll be posting projects using different products from the new catalogue every day for the next week.  Be sure to check back for the next reveal tomorrow from 7 a.m.  If you leave a comment on all projects during the week, you will be entered to win blog candy.  Woop woop!  More details at the end of this post.

My first post of the launch features a wreath set called Feeling of Christmas.  There are two great sentiments too which could be used on the front and inside of a card.  These are the images in the Feeling of Christmas stamp set which is available in wood or clear mount.

I only used one of the images and there is so much more you could do with this set.  I've kept it clean and simple for my first post using the Feeling of Christmas stamp set which has been heat embossed in white and then watercoloured using an Aqua Painter.

I used watercolour paper for the main image and this really is super quality for water techniques.  I coloured the image using Real Red, Crushed Curry and Garden Green inks.  The pointed tip of the Aquapainter allows you to achieve the fine detail work required for an image of this intricacy.

You could easily use the sentiments in the Feeling of Christmas stamp set for the centre of the wreath but I chose to use one from the Hang Your Stocking stamp set.  This image has a swirl under the text which I masked using low tack tape and then after inking I removed the tape.  This means that only the text was inked.  This sentiment really is a perfect fit for the wreath.

And now for the good bit - blog candy!  If you become a blog follower and leave a comment on each post during the launch week, you will be entered to win some brand new Stampin' Up! goodies.  You can increase your chances of winning by interacting on Facebook and Instagram too.  Head over to my Facebook page and Instagram account for more information.  You have until 7 p.m. on Saturday 9 September 2017 to complete your entry.

Happy crafting,
Rachel x
